A man named Don Chatten was in Bark Park in Ellicott Creek Park with his two rescue dogs when one of them started to behave funny. At first he did not know what to think, but then he heard a small moan from the creek
And there it was; a small dog stranded in ice water. He screamed for someone to call 911, but he knew that the dog would not survive much longer, so he jumped. He broke the ice with his forearm and went into the water to the waist to grab the dog. He held the dog by the chest and returned it to a safe place.
The dog was a mixture of terriers named Jackson, which was absent for some time in the area. The puppy was taken to the veterinarian and provided emergency assistance, and they said that the dog was saved by Don’s quick thinking and selfless act. Jackson’s owner was happy to get his pet back.
